Goa hotel rates in peak season are now higher than Bali. The locals can't afford their own beaches.

A 3-star hotel in North Goa in peak season costs ₹12,000-18,000/night in 2026. Equivalent stays in Bali start at ₹4,500. The pricing has decoupled from the experience quality, and Indian travellers have started voting with their wallets — Bangkok, Bali, and Vietnam have overtaken Goa in flight booking volumes from Indian metros in peak season. The Goa government is finally noticing. Tourism numbers are flat YoY despite India's outbound travel growing 30%. The correction is overdue — and shacks/homestays operating at honest pricing will outlast the over-marketed beach resorts charging Bali prices for tier-2 service.

The budget breakdown is really helpful. Was planning ₹1L for 2 but looks like we need to revise up.
