Tested 8 phones in the Rs 18-25K segment over 2 weeks each. Here are the 3 worth buying — and why most flagships at this price disappoint on the things that matter day-to-day.
At the Rs 18-25K price segment in India, three phones consistently delivered through 2-week extended testing: Nothing Phone 2a Plus (Rs 22,000) for design + clean software, iQOO Neo 9 Pro (Rs 24,500) for performance, and Pixel 7a (Rs 23,500 on sales) for camera + software updates. What surprised: paper specs lie at this price. Phones with 200MP cameras took worse photos than the Pixel 7a's 64MP sensor. Phones with 5000mAh batteries lasted less than the Nothing 2a Plus's 5000mAh because of inefficient processors. Refresh rate beyond 120Hz is meaningless at this segment — you're not gaining anything. What to skip: anything with MediaTek Helio or Dimensity 7000-series chips for the price. They throttle quickly under sustained use and ruin gaming + multitasking experience after 6-8 months.
